2012 Induction
The Garfield High School Academic Hall of Fame will induct six new members into the organization at a dinner / reception on Tuesday June 12th, 2012, at 4:00pm at the Royal Manor on Midland Avenue in Garfield. Induction into the Academic Hall of Fame acknowledges the career accomplishments, community or national services, personal excellence, and dedication to the lifelong learning demonstrated by Garfield High School alumni. Nominations were made by members of the community, high school faculty and friends. The final selection was voted upon by a committee of representatives from school administration, current and retired faculty, the guidance department and the community. New members include:
Col. Raymond Maladowitz-Class of 1946
Mr. Gregory Czura-Class of 1963
Dr. Edward Harhaj-Class of 1988
Mrs. Tara Lin Varner-Class of 1993
Mrs. Meghan O’Toole DeCarlo-Class of 1999
Ms. Christina Labocki-Class of 2001
The organization will also be presenting Special Service Awards to Mr. Mark Pedone, Class of 1944, and Mrs. Christine Pepe Griffo, Class of 1928, for their contributions and service to the children of Garfield and the greater Garfield community.
In addition to recognizing alumni for academic achievement and career success, the Academic Hall of Fame underscores the importance of setting significant educational and personal goals for the students of Garfield High school.
