Our lesson day is: THURSDAY

About the Elementary Band Program

In September, all students in the 4th and 5th grade get to choose an instrument (or continue) to play with the band.  Students receive lessons once a week with students who play the same or similar instruments.  At the end of the year, students from all 6 elementary schools come together to perform a concert.

The instruments that we currently offer lessons on are Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone and Percussion (drums/bells).

The book we use for class is called "Standard of Excellence" (red book) and can be purchased at Music and Arts. Baritone players should purchase the Bass Clef (B.C.) version of the book.

Student Requirements

Students are expected to do the following:

1. Bring their instrument and music to school every week for lessons (Thursdays)

2. Students must practice for 15 minutes a day

3. Students are responsible for having the necessary supplies for their instrument to work as well as cleaning supplies. For example, clarinets and saxophones need reeds for their instruments to work. Trumpets and baritones need valve oil, and trombones need slide grease. All students should have their own cleaning supplies for their instrument.  If your child needs any of these supplies, I am able to order them from Music and Arts for you.
