Welcome to Kindergarten!!
I am so excited to be back in school and I consider it a privilege to
be your child’s teacher this year.
The children can look forward to
a year full of fun, listening, learning, sharing and making friends.
Reading
We are
pleased to present the Scott Foresman Reading Series
called Reading Street. This
program not only incorporates Science, Social Studies and Literacy Centers into
our reading lessons, but also allows for differentiated instruction which will
be used daily to best suit your child’s individual needs.
Sight Word List
We will be beginning our sight words this week. Please help your child read and spell the
sight words daily. A growing pile of
flashcards is a fun and effective way for your child to study at home.
We will be beginning with:
I am
Math
After a week-long review of
one-to-one correspondence, patterning, shapes,
graphing and measurement, we will being on October 3rd with Chapter
One: Compare and Sort Objects.

Wednesday: Gym*
Thursday: Music
Friday: Gym*
*Please remember to wear sneakers on
Wednesday and Friday for gym.
For safety purposes, students without
sneakers will be unable to participate.

Upcoming Trips!
Exciting News!
Our class has two field trips
planned. On Tuesday, October 4th, we will be visiting Garfield Firehouse #4 and on Thursday, November 3rd,
we will be visiting The Turtleback
Zoo.
Please make sure that all permission
slips are signed and returned and that payment of $7.00 for the zoo is paid as
soon as possible. Our discounted rate
depends upon our early payment.

Breaking Records in Kindergarten
Our
class will be participating in Jumpstart’s Reading for the Record!

On October 6th, we will join over two
million others across the country and read Llama, Llama, Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney. Jumpstart is working in partnership with The
Pearson Foundation to help raise awareness to close the education gap among
students.
Not only will we be standing up for
quality education, but we will also be breaking a world record!
