The Garfield High School Academic Hall of Fame inducted six new members into the organization at a dinner on June 10, 2010, at The Royal Manor on Midland Avenue in Garfield. New members include: Gaetana Astorino Aliotta (`73), Christopher Annibal (`91), Michael W. Azzara (`65), Anthony Infantolino, M.D. (’76), Edward W. Luka, M.D. posthumously (`50), Samuel Raia (`66). During the ceremony each inductee was introduced by a committee member who provided background information about the individual’s accomplishments to the audience. After being presented with a plaque, new members were afforded the opportunity to address their family, friends and all invited guests.

About the Academic Hall of Fame |

Induction into the Academic Hall of Fame acknowledges the career accomplishments, community or national service, personal excellence, and dedication to lifelong learning demonstrated by Garfield High School alumni. Nominations are made by members of the community, high school faculty, family, and friends. The final selection is voted upon by a committee of representatives from the Garfield Board of Education, school administration, current and retired high school faculty, the guidance department, student body, and the community.
In addition to recognizing alumni for academic achievement and career success, the Academic Hall of Fame underscores the importance of setting significant educational and personal goals for the current students of Garfield High School. Since its inception, thirty graduates have been honored for their accomplishments. |
