Text Box: rain. The next day, after a steady rain, Governor Bradford declared another day of thanksgiving. In 1786, President George Washington declared it a holiday. As the tradition grew, the best food was placed next to the important people. In 1941, Congress declared Thanksgiving a legal holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. Though traditions have changed and we now celebrate a modern version of the holiday, some traditions still survive.
	Everyone have a delicious and thankful Thanksgiving! 
Text Box: 	The first Thanksgiving took place in 1621. The Autumn harvest feast was between the Plymouth colonists who came off the Mayflower and the Wampanoag Indians. It took place to commemorate the harvest after a terrible winter. The Indians helped the colonists survive their first year at Plymouth. Governor William Bradford proclaimed a day of thanksgiving. He sent men to catch wild ducks and geese. The Pilgrims used many spices including cinnamon, ginger, pepper, and nutmeg. Unlike our holiday today, Thanksgiving was three days long.
