Text Box: As many of you have noticed, when you enter the building every mornin the entrance lobby has gotten a new look. The mural is of our Boilermaker mascot and a phrase saying “Welcome to Garfield High School”.
At first, the idea of the mural was focused on sports and academics, but later it was changed to make the design more general and making the mural simple by making it the Boilermaker. The whole idea of painting a mural in the entrance lobby was proposed to Mrs. Ferreri Text Box: by Mr. Petrie. The main idea of painting the lobby was to enhance school spirit and welcome everyone that comes in through the front door.
To complete the mural, it took Mrs. Ferreri and her students eight months. Helping Mrs. Ferreri complete the mural were students Adrian Vargas, Brittany Godoy, Gisel Endara, Jolene Paz and Mark Shupenko, among many others, all working during their art classes. The most challenging and time consuming part of the mural was the lettering, Text Box: said Mrs. Ferreri.
Now that the mural is complete, we can all enjoy it for years and years to come!

Text Box: Everybody wants to graduate high school. Everyone that wants to succeed, at least. People want to move on, forward in life to work on bigger projects. I wish I was speaking for everybody, but I’m not because there are some people who don’t care Text Box: about anything, let alone school. As for me, high school is a mission. High school is all about getting cool with teachers, sucking up to get better grades, and for some people, cheating. If you are smart, this doesn’t relate to you.
Once you get out of Text Box: here, your college life begins. Your next step is to choose your career. For me, it’s business. Rutgers is my first option. I cannot wait to graduate. College is going to be crazy with all my friends. But even though I’ll be having a blast, I’ll still be on point with my grades.
