Class work and Homework

Students are expected to do work in class and at home.

Papers, Tests, and Projects

Tests are given after and during major works. Projects will be assigned and due dates will be set. Essays will be done in drafts and peer editing will be very important in this process.

Class Participation

You must be on time and in uniform. Active participation is mandatory; you must read all required materials in order to take part in discussions!

 

American Studies I American Studies II English IV
 

We will focus on American Literature from the time of the Revolution until Western Expansion. Students will write response essays and analytical papers about various topics and themes discussed. Some of the major works that will be read include The Crucible, Julius Caesar, The Scarlet Letter, and The Red Badge of Courage.

 

This course will focus on American Literature from the time of Western Expansion and onwards. Completion of a research paper will be mandatory in order for students to pass the course. Some of the major works that will be read include My Antonia, The Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men, The Things They Carried, and The Secret Life of Bees. We will focus on British Literature/ Contemporary Literature and writing for college. Students will write response essays and analytical papers about various topics and themes discussed. Major works to be covered will include Beowulf, Macbeth, Canterbury Tales, etc.
