Pre-Requisites: Biology and
Chemistry
Credits:
2.5
Intro:
To have basic knowledge of the environment and of the
marine environment.
Goals:
This is an elective course designed for students who are

Course:
Biology
Length:
Full year
Grade-level:
Sophomores
Pre-
Requisites: NA
Credits:
5
Intro:
Serves as an introduction to molecular and cellular
biology, stressing a relationship between chemical and
life activities. This class is offered with or without
the laboratory component. The laboratory experiments are
correlated to the subject matter.
Goals:
Develop career planning and workplace readiness skills.
Develop and understanding of the environment as a system
of interdependent components affected by human activity
and natural phenomena.

Physical Science
Length:
Full Year
Grade Level:
Freshmen
Pre-Requisites: NA
Credits:
5
Intro:
A general introduction to the concepts of chemistry and
physics.
Goals:
Students will be able to explain the structure of atoms
and molecules, including the component parts and the
bonds between atoms that give rise to molecules.
Students will demonstrate experimentally the differences
between compounds and mixtures as commonly found in
their environment.

Course:
Biology AP
Length:
Full year
Grade:
Seniors
Pre-Requisites: College Bound
Credits:
5
Intro:
Through this course, students should gain a deeper
understanding of biology, being in touch with the
environments, observing living organisms, and
discovering for oneself how they function. A
satisfactory score on the AP exam in May should enable
the students to earn college credit.
Goals:
Students will demonstrate the ability to use correctly
the instruments, apparatus, and technologies of biology
and demonstrate the procedures of biology in a safe,
prescribed manner.

Intro:
This course requires conceptual thinking and the use of
mathematical ideas to study topics such as motions,
optics, forces, and electricity.
Goals:
Students will be able to use a geometric model to
explain or predict outcomes for systems considered in
the content proficiencies and recognize that they are
dynamic in nature.

Earth Science
Length:
Full Year
Grade-Level:
Juniors
Pre-Requisites: Biology
Credits:
5
Intro:
This class emphasizes the interrelationships of
astronomy, geology, meteorology, and oceanography, as
well as the technologies used to study the earth.
Goals:
Students will be able to know and apply proper safety
precautions in laboratory and/or field situations and
explain why all maps of the earth’s surface are
distortions of the actual surface of the planet.
