The After-School ESL Program is for
students that have English as a second language. Students with multi
cultural backgrounds join as they learn more about other cultures. They
also contribute and teach their fellow class mates more about their
customs. Ms. Rebori, Ms. Cuozzo, Ms. Nuttall and Ms. Purciello also
organize multi cultural trips. The ESL Club meets after school once a
month.
The Art Club’s main
objective is to work on projects that will enhance the beauty of the
school environment. Currently the club is working on the murals for the
science and athletics departments and is planning projects to be done
within the school. Any students interested in participation in these
projects should see Ms. Biasucci, Mrs. Luna and Mr. Garcia the
Art Club advisors.
All students are welcome to learn
and appreciate the Asian culture by joining the Asian Club, which
encompasses Asian Cultures such as Pilipino, Vietnamese, Chinese,
Japanese, Korean and Malaysian. We look forward to celebrating Chinese
New Year.
Everyone interested in the
Bible reading every Wednesday after school. We discus bible related
points of view and also organize food drives for the community. The
bible club meets once a week on Wednesday for a time of Bible study and
prayer. Food drives and holiday projects are organized for the
year as part of a community outreach. All students are invited to
participate. Meetings take place in room 202 at 3:00 PM on Wednesday.

Book Club
If you like to read, join our
super awesome club. From bestselling books to up and coming new
authors, we enjoy reading all genres. See Mrs. K. Serfozo for more
information.
The Botany Club has been working
very hard over the past few years to beautify the City of Garfield.
Students have volunteered their time and strengths planting trees along
some roadways; they also planted the new pine tree and flowers at the
Garfield Public Library, which they also decorate annually for the
holidays. They are also one of the many clubs who volunteers for the
bi-annual Passaic River Clean-Up. The students in this club are
extremely dedicated, hard working volunteers. If you have the passion
and dedication to help out our community please contact Mrs. D'Angelo
and Mrs. Caruso.
The purpose of the CBE is to raise
money for a scholarship to one of the CBE students. CBE is also
responsible for the school lunch money program. For more information

Community
Service Club
The mission of the club is to
foster a spirit of volunteerism among our students to benefit the
citizens of Garfield as well as the community at large. Our
activities range from working with local children and senior citizens
to fundraising projects for charities like "She's the First".
Last year our service field trip was to the Veteran's Home in Paramus
where students decorated the Alzheimer's wing for Christmas. At
the end of the school year, students are awarded certificates
documenting their service hours. See advisors Mrs. Shah or Mrs. Ziegler
for more information.
Respect and learn
the differences in others through dialogue, social interaction
(Educational Games), and incorporate a plan of action to facilitate
tolerance/acceptance and character education. There will be a mission
statement to implement these goals.
The goal of the
Environmental Club is to improve our surrounding. It gives students a
chance to be a part of the Passaic River Clean-Up, which is twice a
year. This club also allows students to go on trips where they work on
environment projects that benefits our community. The meeting is twice
a month and if your interested in helping out and contributing see Mr.

Guitar Club
The GHS Guitar Club will teach
students who have a desire to learn to play guitar and/or electric bass
guitar. It will assist students in raising their level
of instrumental proficiency from beginner on up. Club members will
share their musical tastes with one another and gain an overall
appreciation and understanding of music theory and all types of musical
styles. Students will need to bring their own instruments. Students who
are interested in joining should see Mr. Gray or Mr. Serfozo for
further details.
Members of the interact club
involve themselves in community service projects, fundraisers and
attend various conferences. Students are encouraged to support their
fellow citizens in need through out search programs such as a
Thanksgiving Day distribution of turkey diners. Interact advisor is

Italian Club

Latina Club
The Spanish Club
provides all students in Garfield High School the opportunity to
experience first hand the richness of the Spanish culture. Students get
exposed to tradition, language, music art, food, etc. from the many
Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America and Spain.
The Garfield High
School student body is rich in cultural diversity. Many of the students
come from Spanish-speaking countries. This is a valuable resource for
students to share and learn together about the Spanish culture first
hand.
LMTI
The Lindsey Meyer Ten Institute is
a wellness and leadership training program for the prevention of
teenage alcohol drug fuse. Garfield High School students attend a
residential training week and develop [plans to bring back. To their
school and community many prevention programs. These students are
selected through staff nomination based on their social skills and
leadership abilities. One of the main goals of the LMTI group is to
show young people that they can live full and joyful lives with out the
use of alcohol and other drugs. One way they try to accomplish two
through various cross are teaching programs. See Mr. Storms for
details.
Manga, Anime,
Comic Club
The is a great new club for all
things manga, anime and comic books. Members get together to share
their interest in these works as well as offer recommendations for
others. We analyze the artwork or the story and offer our opinions in
an open and free exchange of ideas. The M.A.C. Club is a great place
for new fans and old to get together and enjoy these works of art. The
M.A.C. Club also creates an environment where artists and writers can
collaborate to create their own works. Stop by Room 195, after school
every Tuesday and see what the M.A.C. Club has for you. Any questions
please see Mr. Burns or Ms. Casey in Room 195.
Teacher advisers at this point are Mr. Matthew Burns, Justin Greene and
Ms. Caitlin Casey. Other teachers have expressed an interest in helping
out so I will email you again if other teachers come on board for this
club.
Math Honor Society
The Math Honer Society provides
peer tutoring in math each morning 7:45am – 8:15am in room 207. We are also
starting to provide tutoring for the Garfield community as needed
basis. In addition another activity that occurred this year was the
annual trip to the Liberty Science Center. See Mr. Katz for details.
Garfield High School has been a
member of the Bergen County Math League for over twenty years. Six
times a year, students participate in Math Contests with other schools
in the county. Other schools in our group are Becton Regional,
Rutherford, Queen of Peace and Immaculate Conception. We also hold Math
League Contests in our school six times per year. Anyone interested in
being a member of the Math Team see Mr. Strama
The National Honor Society is the
pinnacle of organization that promotes recognition for students who
reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship,
character leadership and service. Students become eligible for
induction into the NHS in the second half of their junior year. To gain
selection to the Honor Society, a candidate must have a cumulative
average of 3.5 or higher. All potential members must demonstrate
significant involvement in school organizations or activates. It should
be noted that suspensions, attendance policy violation and adherence to
school rules and policies are important consideration in the evaluation
process. T
The Quill is he school newspaper
with a staff of 20+ students. It produces 5 to 6 issues per year
providing the student body with information and entertaining articles
as well as innovative art. Open to all students at every grade level,
students are encouraged to join and be a part of the staff. See Mr.
Tamweber.
Ski Club
Each year faculty members take
students on 3 ski trips. A few of the resorts that students visit are
Bell Aire, Mountain Creek, Hunter Mountain, Tuxedo Park and Windham.

Fun, fun after school
activates that take place in the school cafeteria. Its a place where
you interact with your peers and talk about all subjects. If you want
to be a part of T.R.E.N.D see Ms. Scudillo.
Walking Club
The Walking Club of Garfield High
School promotes walking as part of a healthy lifestyle. Club
members raise funds every year for the March of
Dimes by organizing a six mile walk through Saddle River Park
from Rochelle Park to Ridgewood. Club advisors are myself, Mrs.
Patire, Mrs. Kenny, and Mrs. Ryder.
Weight Room
The Garfield High School has a
weight room which is open year round. We recently added several new
machines and equipment which will provide GHS students the perfect
opportunity to train without having to pay any fees or memberships like
a gym. Anyone interested in learning how to weight train or who
simply wants to "work out" can do so three days per week
after school and throughout the summer. Hours and days do rotate
throughout the year so please speak to an advisor if you have any
questions.

Retrospect is created by a student staff. the process begins in
September and is completed in May. If anyone is interested in working
