The information in this area
is for grades K - 6
Our goal in educating your children is to develop the whole
person. We believe the programs available in the Garfield Public School system are
organized in such a way as to make this our directive. We share with you the education of
your children and we thank you for giving us the privilege.
Discipline establishes an environment in which our
educational objectives can be successfully attained. Although discipline has not been a
major problem at the elementary levels we felt we could make a good situation better. To
accomplish this goal our teachers are involved in the "Assertive Discipline"
approach.
Assertive discipline is defined as obtaining the behavior
you desire from students without infringing upon their rights. To implement this
program the teachers at each grade level have communicated to their class school rules
along with the consequences, if a child decides to break a rule. This will eliminate
interruptions to the teaching - learning process. As a consequence, your child will enjoy
a learning experience that is rightfully theirs.
