James Madison Computer Lab

On behalf of the James Madison School #10 technology staff I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year!

At James Madison School #10, we believe that students and teachers should have access to information from all available sources, and be equipped with the skills necessary to locate, evaluate, and communicate information with a worldwide audience. Technology provides hands-on experiences in which students can create their own knowledge and present their findings using a variety of tools. Our technology program is designed to provide interactive learning experiences allowing students and teachers to develop an appreciation and understanding of the role technology plays in society. Technology is used as a tool to develop problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills in a project-oriented approach.
In alignment with the New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards, technology is used to achieve proficiencies in academic content areas and to develop cross-content workplace readiness skills. Students and teachers have access to technology in their classrooms and the computer lab. There are 28 workstations in the computer lab which print to a work-group laser printer.  A scanner, digital camera, and interactive television are used to import images and video from trips, special artwork, etc., for inclusion in multimedia projects and webpage production. A Smart Board is used to present information to students in an exciting way. Internet access is provided through a high-speed connection. We are very excited to have the capability to view video and other high-bandwidth data through this connection.
Our web page is designed and maintained by our Computer Club with supervision from
Mr. Gall and Mrs. D'Amico.  It is our goal to provide information about our school, links to educational resources, and a way for parents to contact teachers, and a place to showcase student work.
Staff development and evaluation are ongoing processes at James Madison, through the use of our technology coordinator, regional course offerings, and graduate level coursework. Surveys are conducted annually to determine strengths, areas in need of development, and aid in the planning of continuing staff development opportunities.
