It was great to see all of my students after a restful summer vacation. I was excited to recognize 137 students for their extra hard work and dedication to read over the summer with our Summer Reading Program.

This school year, I will be focusing on Guided Reading in grades 1-5. Classroom teachers and I will be working with the students in small groups to teach the skills necessary to become fluent readers as well as improving the students’ comprehension skills.

Kindergarten will be learning to recall the details of the beginning, middle and end (BME) of a story through a combination of drawing and the written word.
