   It is our philosophy that every young person, regardless of family background or circumstance, has the right to work, participate in a democratic society, and learn in an optimum environment in order to achieve his or her fullest potential.

SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT

   The mission of the Garfield Public Elementary Schools is to prepare our young people to assume their responsibilities as productive citizens in a democratic society, to contribute to their community, to give them the skills needed to be successful in the workplace, to apply their learning to a diverse and changing world, and to help them gain the knowledge and wisdom needed to fulfill their individual potential and lead satisfying lives.

 

GOALS

· To provide opportunities for students to reach their maximum potential in all academic areas so that they can become problem solvers, critical thinkers, collaborative workers and life-long learners


· To provide every child with a variety of assessment opportunities to demonstrate achievement and application of learning


· To create a positive atmosphere of learning in which students of all levels, needs and cultural backgrounds feel physically and emotionally safe


· To provide the opportunity and assistance needed for all students to develop positive self-esteem and establish high expectations

 
 · To create a partnership between the home, school, and community in order to provide the opportunity for quality education and continuous improvement.
