WELCOME TO THE ART ROOM!!!! Here at Roosevelt #7, we are lucky to have three wonderful Art instructors teaching your children the skills and processes that will make them successful in Art. Mrs. S. Gajajiva (Monday) Miss K. Morgan (Tuesday) Miss S. Wich (Thursday & Friday) Each teacher brings their own unique style and method to teaching the many elements of Art. They all share a common goal of challenging students, exposing them to many Art techniques, introduce them to master artists and most of all develop a safe, caring environment where the children are encouraged to express themselves freely. Goals for my students: - To become aware that art surrounds us everywhere! - To learn and apply the elements of art and principles of design. - To become familiar with master artists and their artwork. - To be able to work independently to create their own works of art. - To be able to work cooperatively with their classmates in the classroom.

Students are going to learn about the seven elements of Art throughout the entire year. In the first trimester the children review and/or introduced to Line, Shape & Color. During the second trimester we focus on Form & Value. Finally, in the third trimester the children learn about Texture & Space. In order to understand the elements, the students create various projects through all types of media; drawing (pencil, crayon, marker etc.), painting, collage, sculpting and craft art.
This is what we are currently working on:
~Grade 1 (Mouser, DiBello)~ Line review- Students are learning 7 important lines that help create any type of picture. We are creating simple pictures by putting lines together. Students will create "Line World," an imaginary world in outer space consisting of our seven lines.
~Grade 2 (Marsh, Roselli)~ Line review-Students are reviewing our seven lines. They are going to create an abstract design by repeating their lines in a four quadrant space. They will use markers and crayon to enhance their design.
~Grade 3 (Kovach, LaMonico)~ Line and Shape review- Students are reviewing how lines turn into shapes. They are creating various pictures step by step to understand how the parts come together to make the whole. They are creating an abstract picture consisting of lines and shapes.
~Grade 4 (Denistran)~ Line review- Students are reviewing lines and learning about optical illusions. They will create a repeating optical illusion by using different lines and color in with markers.
