My name is Maria Cosentino MA, MSW, LSW, and I am the school counselor in your child’s school. It is my responsibility to help your child get the best possible education as part of the school team. A good education includes among other things, learning how to get along with others, making good choices, controlling anger, accepting responsibility, and being aware of individual strengths and weaknesses. It is my hope to be successful in supplementing the learning which takes place at home and in the classroom through individual and group counseling. My role is to help students who are facing particular difficulties such as divorce, loss, illness, anxiety, stress, learning disabilities, as well as many other issues, which quite often can affect children at school. If your family is experiencing any difficult issues or a particular concern regarding your child, please let me know, so that I can offer my assistance. If I become aware of any difficulties your child is facing in school; I will notify you as soon as possible. I welcome the opportunity to meet with any parent to discuss their children. It is important to remember that the school personnel and parents are both working together to help each child achieve their full potential academically and socially.
