BIRTHDAYS

Birthdays are  special occasions, and we enjoy celebrating them at school.  Please know that you are welcome to send treats to the classroom on your child's birthday, either edible or material kind.  However, it is not necessary to send treats, and whether or not treats are present, we will be sure to take a few moments to honor your special birthday child.

Extra Curricular

   BOOK-IT!  READING PROGRAM

 Dear Parents:

You're invited!

Please join in the fun of making your child a better reader and successful student.  Our class is participating in the BOOK IT! Reading Incentive Program this year as part of the reading we do inside and outside the classroom.  Sponsored by Pizza Hut, the program motivates reading through pizza, praise and recognition.

This is how it works:

*                 I will set monthly reading goals for your child beginning in October.

*                 When the monthly reading goal is met, I will present your child with a pizza award certificate good for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza from participating Pizza Hut locations.  There is no purchase required and the pizza can be taken to go.

*                 In addition to the pizza, your child will receive a fun, new BOOK IT! card with a backpack clip and a sticker for the card on the first visit.  On each subsequent BOOK IT! visit, your child will receive another pizza and an additional sticker for his or her BOOK IT! card.

*                 If your child meets the reading goals all six months of the program, he or she will become a BOOK IT! All-Star Readers and will be awarded an All-Start Reader medallion at Pizza Hut.

I am inviting you to help your child meet his or her reading goals each month by reading aloud together at least 20 minutes a day.  If you are interested in finding tips for reading at home with your child, or additional information on the BOOK IT! Program, please visit www.bookitprogram.com or call 1-800-426-6548.

Sincerely,

Ms. Amorose

Homework Policy

Homework is an extension of what students are doing in the classroom whether it’s for reinforcement, a practice activity, a project, or studying for a test. Homework will be given on a daily basis and is expected to be completed neatly and in pencil by the next day unless otherwise specified.

The students are responsible for returning assignments to the teacher the next day.  All homework will be collected, checked and returned.

Because homework is considered to be an extension of student learning outside the classroom, it will count as a part of each student’s academic grade.  Failure to complete homework on a regular basis will result in a decrease of the student’s report card grade.

Do your homework everyday.

Your Child's folder will be an important responsibility for him or her.  She or he will need to bring it back and forth to school.  If it gets lost or ruined I would appreciate it if you would replace it as soon as possible.  Make sure that your child empties out his or her folder everyday and shows you his or her work and or notes!!!!!!

Please make sure that your child wears sneakers on gym days.

I believe in an open line of communication so please feel free to contact me at any time! camorose@gboe.org
