                             Instrument Recommendations

We prefer students rent their instruments from Music and Arts on Rt17N in Paramus. They have a great rental program for the ENTIRE school year (10 months) and they also have a very knowledgeable staff who will get you everything you need. It is important to rent an instrument first because kids have a tendency to change their minds. The program at Music and Arts allows you to trade your rental instrument for another if that happens. Should they change their mind, please check with your music teacher first to see what your child can switch to.

Please be aware that there are many inexpensive instruments that you may find in a store or online that you are advised against purchasing.  Many times these instruments do not work well, are difficult to play, break easily, cannot be repaired and sometimes do not work at all. An instrument like this could hinder your child's progress and create unnecessary frustration. Below are several brands which I highly recommend and in the event that they become damaged, can be repaired. All are available at Music and Arts.

Armstrong Blessing Gemeinhardt Olds
Artley Buffet Holton Schilke
Bach Conn Jupiter Selmer
Besson Getzen King Yamaha

Please note that Music and Arts has what's called Liability Damage Waiver (LDW). This is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL STUDENTS!!!!!! It is insurance that covers any and all repairs for the instrument including:

Torn pads, broken mouthpieces, dents, bent keys, broken wheel/zipper on the case, it won't play and you don't know why, check ups and anything else that may happen to the instrument!!
