Allan B. Focarino Board Trustee

Allan Focarino dedicates himself to every endeavor he's involved with, whether business-related, public service-minded, or advancing social organizations. He's also a loving and supporting husband for over 25 years to Violet (nee: Trajkovska) and devotes time to his immediate and extended family.

A lifelong resident of Bergen County, Allan and his family have a long history in Garfield spanning over 125 years.

Professionally, Allan has a nearly 15-year career as an auditor and contracts liaison for the PANYNJ. In addition, he supports his family's local business, which was founded in 1936, started by his grandparents and has been a part of the Garfield business community since 1967.

Allan holds degrees in Accounting from both Bergen Community College and William Paterson University. He is a strong advocate for students, parents, and the taxpayers and tenants of the community, striving for school excellence.

Allan Focarino's list of achievements and recognitions are many, with several examples listed here, including:

Lifetime member of The New Jersey State Law Enforcement Officers Association, awarded this Honorary Lifetime Membership in 1992 for his assistance with the organization in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Served as Chief-of-Staff for a distinguished NJ State Senator.
Vice-Chair of the Bergen County Development Countywide Block Grant Committee and has been a member since his appointment by the Bergen County Executive in 2016.
Currently he is the 2nd Vice President for the local Garfield Chapter of UNICO National where he also serves as Chairman of the Columbus Day Committee and previously served as its Chapter President.
Former UNICO National NJ District VII Governor and was awarded Outstanding District Governor for his term. He also served as the Eastern Region District Governors Chair for UNICO National, overseeing 22 Districts with 96 Chapters from Maine to Florida.
Serves on the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative as a member of the Capital Committee for its Garfield expansion.
Active participation with prominent Bergen County social organizations, serving as a Trustee, Committee Chairman, and Executive Board positions.

Allan Focarino has served as a Trustee on the Garfield BOE since 2017, continuing the legacy of his grandfather, Albert Focarino, who was a long-serving member of the Garfield Board of Education in the 1950's through 1980's. During Allan’s tenure on the Board, he has served as chairman of the Personnel and Finance committees, and member of Policy, various Negotiations, and the new Athletic Field Oversight committees. He is the GBOE Delegate for the NJ School Boards Association. Allan recently received the Certified Board Member designation from the NJSBA.
